What is CourseArc?
Our main focus has been to build a product for the typical end user and ensure they have the optimal experience. We are passionate about UX and usability. We have created a product that is easy, intuitive, and allows anyone to build high quality, interactive content. Most of the other course authoring solutions are not easy and have a steep learning curve and/or require some development or instructional design skills. And while these solutions create beautiful content they are not scalable across a university or corporate organization. In addition, we believe that building online content is a team process and should include internal and external reviews. We have built in features to support all types of collaborative work. To the best of our knowledge, there are no other course authoring products that offer all of the collaboration features we include: quality control, development workflow, task management, review workflow, user based roles, commenting, and version control. Another key difference between ourselves and the competition is that we support LTI integration and multibranding. SCORM, which many other products still support, was developed to support movability of self-paced, static content. Today, tools need to be much more flexible and support formal and informal learning as well as blended and fully online content that can be dynamically updated. In addition, through the use of LTI, we allow our clients to create content that can be whitelisted. Finally, we offer an incredible amount of instructional design support for all of our end users. We have an active blog, www.coursearc.com/blog, with tips and articles; a free online course on designing high quality eLearning (https://coursearc.com/free-course-principles-of-instructional-design/) which equals about 20 hours of instruction; and a thorough knowledge base that includes not only technical support but instructional design tips (https://coursearc.freshdesk.com/support/solutions).
